Omacom Foundation hires HANCORE as Head of Design and Community

We’re hiring HANCORE as Head of Design and Community! He’s moving from his seat in Omarchy AIR to join the Omacom Foundation full time as our fourth staff member, alongside Krzysztof on Kernel, outfoxxed on Shell, and Emir on Infrastructure.

HANCORE was one of the first two artists we invited into the residency, and it quickly became clear that what he’s doing for Omarchy is a full-time job.

Start with the plugins. When Quattro opened the floodgates, HANCORE started the marketplace that gave all those plugins a home, and it has since grown into the official Omarchy plugin catalogue, now with six thousand plugins. Games you can play from the bar, panels that track your coding agents, music players, and all the other wonderful experiments that make the malleable computer real. Keeping that ecosystem healthy, helping authors make their work great, and making sure the best of it gets seen is a big part of what he’ll be doing.

Then there’s design. Solitude and Last Horizon both ship with Omarchy, and another twenty of his themes are on the extras page. That’s more than anyone else has contributed. He’s a mechanical engineer who became one of the defining aesthetic forces in this community, and now he gets to bring that eye to everything Omarchy puts out into the world, not just the palettes.

And it all comes back to community. Omarchy is beautiful because so many people have poured their taste and time into it. The theme makers, the plugin authors, the people running meetups around the world. HANCORE is one of them, and now he’ll be dedicated to making sure they get the support, feedback, and recognition they deserve. He’ll keep serving on Omarchy Core too.

Going forward, his work will also include merchandise and apparel. Omarchy has a look, and it’s about time you could wear it. Expect it to get the same care as everything else he designs. More on that soon!

HANCORE’s move opens up a seat in AIR, which remains by invitation.

Thanks to everyone funding this work, we can turn the people who’ve been making Omarchy beautiful on their own time into people who get to do it full time. We’re grateful for their patronage.

Welcome aboard, HANCORE! Let’s make Omarchy look as good as it works.
